Overview:
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University’s residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. Job Responsibilities:
+ Adhere to all NCAA , conference, and institutional and departmental guidelines and policies.
+ Demonstrate leadership and professional behavior when dealing with all constituent groups, including and prioritizing student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff, and all members of the University community.
+ Educates, tracks and assesses eligibility and compliance certification for all student-athletes; educates and assesses all coaches and staff with regards to NCAA compliance certification (25%)
+ Athletic Staff Supervision (15%)
+ Assists in the hiring of coaches and athletic administrators
+ Sports administrator for various sport coaches
+ Responsible for NCAA and Department of Education required reporting, generates reports and submits grant applications to the Empire 8 and NCAA (15%)
+ Oversee student-athlete academic development/standing, disciplinary matters and discipline committee (15%)
+ Assist in the daily operation of the department, development and interpretation of policies related to athletics; serve as representative for campus committees (10%)
+ Facilitates community service projects, alumni relations and special events for student-athletes (10%)
+ Acts as primary liaison with student life, residential life and academic offices (5%)
+ Game Management & other administrative tasks as assigned by department (5%)
+ Support all home games when schedule permits
+ Yearly NCAA rules test
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred. Minimum 5 years athletic administration experience at the collegiate level required.
Competencies / Skills:
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni and friends of the University.
Supervision of Employees:
Direct supervisor for 11 sport program’s head coach including part-time head coaches.
Work Hours:
Must be able to work weekends, travel, drive rental vehicles and be away from home for extended periods of time. Extensive weekends and evenings required of the job.
Special Conditions for Eligibility:
Would prefer NCAA DIII Compliance experience.
