    Under the general supervision of the Vice President & Dean of Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President and Dean (Enrollment Management) will collaborate across the college to ensure excellent, timely, and approachable student services and interactions, and develop, monitor, and act upon performance indicators of student recruitment, retention, and graduation. This individual will lead the design and execution of a systematic and evidence-based set of strategies and initiatives to enable SUNY Westchester Community College to target and grow its enrollments. This individual will develop, articulate, and implement a dynamic, forward-looking, metrics based, and comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan that aligns with the College's strategic initiatives ensuring a strong link between student demand and regional business/education needs. Specific areas of responsibilities include coordination, management, and oversight over the following units: Admissions, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, and Registrar/Student Records (including International Student Services).

     

    This individual will have extensive experience working in student affairs, enrollment management, marketing, and/or related areas at an institution of higher education, preferably in administrative roles, have advanced knowledge of recruitment and retention strategies and initiatives, and a strong understanding of enrollment management best practices and emerging trends at community colleges. The Assistant Vice President and Dean (Enrollment Management) will have the following job functions and duties:

    Recruitment, Retention & Enrollment Strategies:

    + Lead strategic enrollment planning responsible for creating enrollment goals and strategies for targeted student populations to advance institutional growth, diversity, and the college's mission of access.

    + Compile, analyze, interpret, and present data, in collaboration with Institutional Research, to monitor outcomes assessment of enrollment strategies, to guide future action to various constituencies including Deans, Vice Presidents, the President and the Board of Trustees.

    + Identify and recommend solutions to enrollment barriers, particularly where process reengineering and/or technology-enabled solutions can improve the student experience, student engagement, communications, and/or success initiatives.

    + In partnership with the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications and other cross-functional stakeholders, lead multi-channel annual marketing strategy planning and execution, ensuring that the WCC brand and its programs are powerfully brought to life across all major touchpoints, and to grow brand awareness, acquire new students, drive traffic-conversion, and deepen the emotional connection our students' experience with the college.

    + Develop recruitment and retention strategies with local high schools, business & industry partners, community-based organizations, area social services agencies, and other strategic sources.

    + Collaborate with academic and student services departments to develop strategies and initiatives that contribute to the retention of students using key metrics of fall to fall and fall to spring retention to measure effectiveness.

    + Collaborate with Academic Affairs to ensure course offerings and scheduling meet current student and institutional needs.

    + Model and implement effective enrollment management strategies with employees in such areas as on-going professional development, mentoring and customer service awareness.

    College Operations:

    + Lead, manage, and coach direct reports to engender a unified Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) approach.

    + Serve as a member of a variety of college committees and task forces.

    + Ensure exemplary programs and initiatives are provided by direct report service units that meet unit mission/goals, current student needs and best practice trends.

    + Build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with other College leadership, working collegially with the members of the President's cabinet, faculty, staff and others to develop and implement short- and long-term enrollment plans.

    + Serve as the primary liaison between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, including serving on the Academic Leadership Council, regarding enrollment and related functions.

    + Stay abreast of current and emerging trends in student affairs and higher education, particularly as they relate to community college students.

    + Direct the activities of the Division of Student Affairs in the absence of the Vice President and Dean, at the request of the Vice President/Dean and/or President of the College.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree is required. Seven years of related experience, five years of which must have been in student affairs/enrollment management in higher education. Three years in an administrative/supervisory capacity is also required.

     

    The successful candidate must possess experience with enrollment management in a higher education setting, understanding of current philosophies and strategies, and commitment to a student learning-centered environment and a comprehensive community college mission. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom. The demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse staff is also required.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that the successful candidate possess a doctoral degree.

    Additional Information:

    SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $123,671. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $182,499. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
