    Primary Function of Organizational Unit

    The Department of Theatre and Dance, located within the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, is a program involving the study and performance of theatrical works, dance, and related performance arts materials. Its purpose is to provide a stimulating academic and artistic environment, which advocates the pursuit, acquisition and practical application of knowledge and skills emphasizing the interdependence of theatre with the culturally diverse world of ideas and actions. It offers five concentration including theatre education and dance education. lt currently has four full-time-faculty members; a fixed term faculty member; a vacant administrative associate position; and the arts production specialist position . It produces two main stage productions and a dance recital each semester as well as a number of studio and lab productions.

    Primary Purpose of Position

    The primary purpose of this position is to teach and supervise the basic theoretical and practical skills essential to a well-rounded theatre education, while enriching the life of the department through active participation in productions, workshops, and events. Working collaboratively with the Department Chair and full-time faculty, the Adjunct Theatre Instructor also contributes to curriculum review, advises students on academic and career pathways, and supports departmental initiatives that foster a vibrant, professionally engaged learning community.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    The Adjunct Faculty Member is required to have at least 3 years experience in discipline with minimum M.A. degree required in hand for the discipline taught or the equivalence of profound professional work & recognition in the field.

    Master’s Degree in the specified area of discipline
