Description
Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to driving meaningful change in the community. Their mission-focused work is supported by a collaborative and dedicated team, and they are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial tracking and contributing to the organization’s mission-driven endeavors.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
+ Record, classify, and maintain financial transactions for the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
+ Reconcile bank statements, monitor cash flow, and track expenses to ensure accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
+ Assist in preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements in compliance with GAAP and reporting requirements.
+ Manage payroll processing and monitor related compliance with state and federal regulations.
+ Support budget planning, financial forecasting, and grant tracking/reporting to align with funding requirements.
+ Prepare records and documentation for audits and work closely with external accountants during the audit process.
+ Monitor the organization’s 501(c)(3) compliance by tracking restricted funds and ensuring proper reporting for grants and donations.
+ Collaborate with leadership or program managers to provide financial insights that support decision-making and operational goals.
Requirements
+ At least 2 years of experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant; nonprofit experience is strongly preferred
+ Familiarity with fund accounting principles is a major plus.
+ High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
+ Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software; experience with donor management systems is a bonus.
+ Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables).
+ Solid understanding of bookkeeping and nonprofit accounting principles.
+ Familiarity with 501(c)(3) reporting and compliance requirements.
+ Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to handle financial information confidentially
