Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing financial records, analyzing costs, and ensuring accurate reporting to support decision-making processes. This position requires strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a solid understanding of cost accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate financial records, including vendor files and supplier contracts, while ensuring proper documentation is securely stored.
• Process invoices by verifying details, entering them into the system, and managing inter-company transactions.
• Post weekly payments into the system and ensure timely processing.
• Prepare and deliver accounts payable aging reports, along with other financial reports as needed.
• Conduct reconciliations for bank accounts, vendor prepayments, and accounts payable balances.
• Analyze costs by understanding the relationships between raw materials, work orders, inventory, and production processes.
• Perform physical inventory counts and apply wall-to-wall inventory concepts when required.
• Provide support during month-end closing activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Collaborate with various departments to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes.
• Report directly to the Accounting Manager and contribute to the overall success of the accounting team. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field.
• Expertise in cost accounting practices, including standard and manufacturing cost accounting.
• Proficiency in analyzing costs and identifying trends to support business operations.
• Familiarity with inventory management and reconciliation processes.
• Strong skills in financial reporting and accounts payable management.
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations and vendor prepayment reconciliations efficiently.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
