Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for a strong Accounting Manager to support our retail client on a hybrid 2–3-month project in South Bay area. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the supervision of a senior accountant and staff accountant, providing direction and oversight of accounting responsibility related to all general ledger transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, royalty calculations, cash management, account receivable reserves and financial statement preparation and analysis. The Accounting Manager will also have the opportunity to participate in ad hoc projects and the ideal candidate should have the ability to tackle multiple projects and efficiently execute deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of general ledger entries.

• Manage audits related to royalty calculations, preparing necessary schedules and supporting documentation.

• Supervise the sales tax process, collaborating with third-party providers to ensure compliance and accurate payments.

• Handle bi-weekly payroll operations, including the preparation of payroll entries and account reconciliations.

• Calculate return reserves to account for future sales returns and allowances.

• Monitor inventory reserves for obsolescence, spoilage, or other adjustments.

• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead special accounting projects.

• Review contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatments.

• Lead or assist in ad-hoc accounting and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions (pivot, look up functions, index, match, large data sets, etc.)

• Previous experience with a Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm is preferred.

• At least 6 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.

• Manufacturing/inventory accounting experience is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

• Experience in financial statement audits and account reconciliations.

• Familiarity with preparing and reviewing journal entries.

• Ability to analyze contracts and apply correct accounting principles.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
