Sr. Tax Accountant - Public Accounting

Description We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant with a strong background in public accounting to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, including both private and public companies, to provide expert tax services and strategic planning. This is an opportunity to leverage your technical expertise while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare federal, state, and individual tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
• Handle the preparation of international informational tax returns to ensure compliance with global tax regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of tax provisions, including analyzing financial data and applying relevant accounting standards.
• Support tax planning and consulting projects by providing strategic insights and recommendations.
• Conduct tax research and draft memos analyzing the application of tax codes and regulations to client-specific scenarios.
• Represent clients during federal and state tax audits, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with team members on various tax-related initiatives and projects to improve processes and client outcomes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to provide accurate and reliable guidance.
• Perform additional duties as required to support the broader tax team. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in another field accompanied by a Master’s degree in Accounting.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Strong understanding of federal and state income tax laws, as well as solid accounting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with tax software such as CCH ProSystem Fx.
• Excellent project management capabilities with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
• High attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering superior client service.
• Actively pursuing CPA certification, if not already obtained.
