Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New Haven, Connecticut. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key financial processes, including month-end closings, account reconciliations, and payroll interfaces. The position is fully onsite and provides a collaborative environment within a 15-person accounting department.
Responsibilities:
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger with precision.
• Oversee and contribute to the month-end closing process, ensuring timely completion.
• Collaborate with payroll teams to address interfaces and ensure smooth operations.
• Utilize Sage Fixed Assets and law firm-specific software to manage accounting tasks.
• Conduct detailed account reconciliations for balance sheets and other financial statements.
• Support the preparation of financial reports and analyses as needed.
• Act as a key point of contact for resolving accounting discrepancies and issues.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Requirements • Proven experience with month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and best practices.
• Familiarity with Sage Fixed Assets and law firm-specific accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
