    Position Title:

    Business Data Systems Administrator I

    Job Description:

    As a Business Data Systems Administrator, you will report directly to the 911 Communications Director.

    About the Position:

    This position will play a key role in maintaining and supporting essential business software and computer systems. In this role, you’ll work under close supervision, providing valuable technical assistance to end users, project teams, and senior leadership. From coordinating software installations and system updates to managing hardware and mobile devices, you'll gain hands-on experience with a wide range of technologies. This is a great opportunity for individuals with foundational knowledge looking to grow their skills while contributing to the smooth operation of our critical business platforms.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business (or Public) Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a similar field plus zero to two years of experience. Education and related work experience may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.

    About the Team:

    The 911 Communications Team is a collaborative, exciting place to work. There is an Executive Director, five Assistant Directors, nine Operations Supervisors, and 84 Public Safety Dispatchers.

    Work Schedule:

    This position may require non-traditional hours as needed to cover a 24-hour-per-day operation, which may include on-call hours.

    Position Salary Range:

    $60,941 to $83,111 annually based on qualifications and experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Monitors, administers and supports essential business software and computer systems Ensures functionality, reliability and ongoing improvement of those systems. Works with Information Management Services (IMS) in advising, servicing and identifying needs of the staff.

    + Reviews business requirements and develops functional specifications to ensure that technology solutions support business objectives.

    + Aggregates and performs statistical analysis on business data based on requests from project teams or senior leadership for use in decision making and organizational efficiency improvement initiatives.

    + Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed.

    + Writes queries or reports to provide data for various analytical projects.

    + Interprets data to identify business trends, conduct root cause analysis of business problems, or suggest areas for process improvement.

    + Assures all business data and systems are secure and adhere to established security standards and policies.

    + Configures and supports software and hardware.

    + Manages and serves as the department or division administrator for business systems, including related applications and software.

    + Implements and maintains tools for monitoring and eliminating systems downtime.

    + Troubleshoots and resolves issues that arise, implements solutions for problem areas, and performs upgrades.

    + Manages and serves as a department/division administrator for work group systems. Including Asset and Inventory Management, Service Requests, GIS, etc.

    + Develops detailed specifications and selects hardware for new solutions based on current and future business needs.

    + Provides consulting and training to personnel in the business units; and liaises with internal and external parties.

    + Serves as a liaison between development teams and the internal/external customer or end users.

    + Communicates requirements to development teams through specifications, statements of work, project plans, or other forms of documentation.

    + Coordinates with developers, quality assurance teams, and users to test processes and ensure functionality and user acceptance.

    + Develops user documentation or training materials, as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business (or Public) Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a similar field plus zero to two years of experience. Education and related work experience may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.

    + Ability to build collaborative relationships, work as part of a team and effectively across different levels of management and various functional areas.

    + Ability to manage projects and multiple competing priorities simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

    + Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

    + Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

    + Ability to communicate highly technical ideas in clear, concise terminology that is understandable to department leaders and end users.

    + Ability to be a resource in solving technical problems and initiating changes to processes and procedures to meet ongoing user needs.

    Desired Qualification:

    + Experience using Salesforce Service Cloud, ServiceNow, Workday, Laserfiche, Accela, Cartegraph, etc.

    Career Ladder:

    Upon demonstrated ability to meet minimum job requirements and overall successful job performance, incumbent may be promoted to Business Data Systems Administrator II. Promotion shall be based on availability of funds, and concurrence of the Department Director.

    Working Conditions:

    + Light physical effort. Intermittent sitting, standing & walking. Comfortable working conditions.
