The Covey Center for the Arts is hiring a part-time Cashier to assist with ticket sales for performances at the Arts Center. This position involves money handling, processing tickets in-person and online, and assisting with crowd-flow before and after performances. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in participating in the performance arts services provided to Provo City’s residents are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

What will I do?
+ Sell tickets in the ticket office and over the phone.
+ Process internet ticket sales.
+ Count money.
+ Balance daily deposits.
+ Deal with the public and with stage staff prior to and during performances.
+ Deal with adverse and stressful situations.
+ Do minor lifting and moving (boxes and chairs as needed).
+ Have the flexibility to fill in where needed and perform custodial tasks and others as assigned.
What do I need to apply?
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ Must have a working knowledge of computers.
+ Be able to type 35 wpm.
+ Have experience working with money.
+ Have experience working with the public.
+ Have the physical strength and agility to perform the work.
+ Have the ability to follow directions and communicate with others.
+ Preference will be given to those with previous ticket office experience.
What are the hours?
Monday through Friday 9:45 - 2:00 PM. Some night and Saturday hours may be needed for occasional performances.
What are the physical and environmental factors?This work requires: using a telephone; walking; sitting; bending; reaching; lifting (up to 50 lbs.); and long periods at a computer.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
