Position Description
The Office Support Specialist 2 oversees, coordinates, and participates in administrative, clerical and record-keeping activities within Metro Water Services (MWS). There are currently multiple vacancies within the department. The primary functions of the position will be data entry and report preparation utilizing various software programs. Other duties may include payroll, sorting mail, processing purchase requisitions, and similar administrative activities.
Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, storm water management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team.
Typical Duties
+ Utilizes multiple computer systems, including PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Suite, and Hansen.
+ Provides clerical support, including filing, answering phones, and responding to inquiries and service requests.
+ Scans and indexes documents into the electronic filing system.
+ Performs quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for data entry related to work orders and service requests across various software platforms.
+ Processes service requests such as flow tests and new infrastructure acceptance.
+ Coordinates with multiple departments and responds to email inquiries in a timely manner.
+ Generates and distributes weekly and monthly reports.
+ Serves as a backup for payroll processing, work order costing, and other data entry tasks.
+ May process purchase requisitions and invoices for contracted work.
+ May sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
+ Provides other clerical and administrative duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of increasingly responsible clerical/administrative experience.
*Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience on a 1:1 ratio"

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience working with Peoplesoft or Hansen
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
+ Previous payroll experience
