Imperial Calcasieu Human Services Authority (ImCal HSA) exists so that citizens with mental health, addictions, and developmental challenges residing in the parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis are empowered, and self-determination is valued such that individuals live a satisfying, hopeful, and contributing life.

We're looking for a Medical Assistant to join our Nursing Department in the Behavioral Health Division. Our Behavioral Health Services division provides comprehensive and coordinated outpatient services to individuals with mental illness and/or an addictive disorder (alcohol, drugs, gambling) for both adults and children.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in administrative services in a healthcare setting; OR

Two years of experience or training in patient care; OR

An associate’s degree or certificate in a medical assistant training program.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

In this role, you will:

+ Guide patients through clinic transitions

+ Coordinate referrals with other providers and services in a timely and professional manner Follow-up with referral sources in a timely fashion as required

+ Promote coordination of service delivery and prevent duplication of services

+ Take and record measures of patient’s general physical condition (vital signs, waist circumference, weight/height/BMI)

+ Collect specimens for urine drug screens (UDS)

+ Collect specimens for urine pregnancy testing (UPT)

+ Measure blood alcohol concentration (BAC)

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Permanent

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
