Job Summary
The Database Administrator III performs duties above a Database Administrator II. This position handles complex database systems with minimal assistance. It mentors team members and designs, develops, installs, and maintains the database environment. The Database Administrator III also works well with customers and stakeholders like Applications, Storage, Servers, and Network.
Essential Functions of the Role
+ Provides advanced expertise and mentors team members. This includes knowledge of Baylor policies, technical procedures, and standards. Covers all areas of database administration, design, implementations, updates, maintenance, help, documentation, reporting, research, and development.
+ Provides advanced expertise in complex database design and implementation. This includes advanced file layout, architecture, disaster recovery, and high availability technologies. It also involves reviewing and developing solutions based on project requirements, security, performance tuning, and software installations for complex systems.
+ Maintains outside technical relationships and investigates, evaluates and recommends new database performance tools.
+ Implements third-party tools or develops new database testing tools. Studies database performance and recommends tuning changes to enhance performance.
+ Requires able knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, advanced database architecture and performance tuning.
+ Considered experienced in four or more areas, including HA/DR, Replication, Performance Tuning, Security, Internal Database Architecture, and Scripting. Has applicable certifications. Other specialties are defined by the manager.
+ Prioritizes work appropriately, carrying out assignments with minimal amount of direction and completes tasks within deadlines with minimal supervision.
+ Monitors work progress and informs team heads, the team manager, or customers of project status, problems, obstacles, and workload issues promptly without supervision.
+ Provides timely and accurate status reports without supervision. Enters work time promptly into the system without supervision.
+ Provides accurate and up to date system, site and project documentation.
+ Provides appropriate documentation for scheduling of resources.
+ Creates and maintains system reports such as uptime, utilization and growth.

+ EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
+ EXPERIENCE - 6 Years of Experience
