    Middle School Special Education Teacher: Consultant Teacher Setting

    + Plan and provide instruction for students with learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or developmental disabilities in accordance with NYS mandates and standards.

    + Develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet student needs.

    + Develop lesson plans aligned with NYS Learning Standards and implement and evaluate those plans using best instructional and assessment practices.

    + Develop, implement, and evaluate alternative behavior management plans.

    + Work in a multidisciplinary team to foster collaborative planning and an interdisciplinary approach to learning.

    + Effectively communicate with school staff, families, districts, and community agencies.

    + Manage and support classroom teams.

    + Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities.

    Job Qualifications

    Must possess NYS Students with Disabilities Certification (K-12, 1-6, 7-12 generalist); prefer to have content certification or more than two years of experience in the following content areas: 7-12 English, 7-12 Math
