    What You’ll Be Doing

     

    Cadmus seeks an Associate to join its Energy Sector, serving as an Energy Technical Assistance and Impact Engineer.

     

    Cadmus seeks candidates with strong analytical, research, and communication skills, and experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a strong technical background from related fields.

     

    Qualified candidates are expected to direct and execute energy projects on behalf of Cadmus’ clients. Typical project activities will include leading commercial & industrial energy audits, performing site inspections or investigations, conducting decarbonization assessments, installing or collecting temporary energy monitoring equipment, harvesting trend data from building or equipment control systems, analyzing energy and emissions data using engineering and statistical methods, and peer-reviewing calculations and analysis by others.

     

    Qualified candidates will also possess excellent communications skills which will support many dimensions of this role. The Energy Technical Assistance and Impact Engineer will manage peer and junior staff as they support project-specific tasks; mentor junior staff as direct reports; present work products, findings and recommendations to varied audiences including clients, colleagues, conference attendees, and public stakeholders; and generally, collaborate broadly internally and externally.

    Responsibilities

    + Independently lead commercial, industrial, multifamily, and/or residential site visits in support of energy projects. Interface with equipment and controls systems to understand setpoints, schedules and operating parameters. Deploy tools like temperature sensors, motor loggers, combustion analyzers, blower door kits, and similar diagnostic or monitoring equipment to collect key data. Collect relevant details to support subsequent analysis for demand reduction, energy savings, cost savings, and avoided greenhouse gas emissions. Identifying savings opportunities in the field and while reviewing site documents and analyzing data. Calculate intervention impacts using engineering and statistical methods, industry software, and third-party research and reference materials. Assess project feasibility using economic analysis methodology (return on investment, etc.).

    + Prepare and present findings through written and oral communications, including reports, memos, and presentations; communicate clearly with varied audiences, including clients, community stakeholders, and peers.

    + Manage self effectively, balancing priorities and communicating challenges to leadership; optimize working hours to preserve work-life balance.

    + Manage small teams of consultants effectively, providing leadership and direction; drive effective outcomes and quality deliverables while building community and shared purpose among colleagues.

    + Support business development and company growth through positive client relationships, industry outreach and networking, and support of project proposals via budget and written content development.

    + Collaborate effectively with internal and external parties, including interdisciplinary teams, supervisors and delegates, clients, peer professionals, and members of the public.

    + Deliver high-quality work on-time and on-budget.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field with 8–10 years of professional experience.

    + Experience leading commercial, industrial, multifamily, and/or residential site visits in support of energy projects.

    + Reside in MA, CT, or southern NH to support travel to Northeast clients and jobsites.

    + Strong understanding of applied engineering and statistical methods to analyze data and answer research questions.

    + Exceptional writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.

    + Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing deadlines in a fast-paced, deliverable-driven environment.

    + Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

    + Self-motivated with the initiative to work independently on assignments, learn new skills, and mentor colleagues.

    + Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.

    + Valid driver’s license (vehicle ownership not required).

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Interest in energy, energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, decarbonization, electrification, heat pumps, renewable and distributed energy resources (DERs), the built environment and/or the utility industry.

    + Professional Engineering credential in mechanical or electrical engineering.

    + Strong understanding of the built environment and energy systems, including MEP (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing) and exterior envelope.

    + Proficiency in energy simulation modeling.

    + Proficiency in coding with Python, R, and/or SQL.

    + OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training certification.

    + Building Commissioning (Cx) or Retrocommissioning (RCx) experience.

    + MEP (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing) Design experience.

    + Demand Side Management (DSM) impact evaluation experience.

    + Experience with power and energy analysis techniques, including regression models, bin analysis, cross-validation, and parameter tuning/optimization.

    + Familiarity with project management tools and tactics, such as scheduling software and budget tracking.

    + Proven ability to self-train through additional training programs and certifications.

    Additional Information:

    Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

    The minimum starting salary for this position is $85,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
