    Job Description Summary:

    This role is responsible for development and implementation of business strategy, marketing, financial and operational planning and accreditation. Additionally, this role has oversight of patient billing systems, development of capital/operating budgets and is actively involved in resource management, recruitment, and performance improvement. Focus on benchmark measures to monitor both the quality of services as well as patient experience are also core components of this role. This role will lead program development initiatives and work collaboratively with both internal and external customers as well as matrixed stakeholders.

     

    This role will develop/implement and maintain compliance with policies, procedures, standards and protocols for quality transplant patients and donor care. This includes the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the quality of transplant care in conjunction with the hospital wide plan and ensure compliance with applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory standards. It also involves interdisciplinary patient care from a team of experts who represent medical disciplines as well as support services and manages the short- and long-term planning of the clinical and business operations of transplant services for OhioHealth.

    Responsibilities And Duties:

    Administrative Management Oversight: Assumes 24-hour accountability for ongoing delivery of patient care within assigned specialty, ensures patient needs are being met in accordance with instructions of providers and administrative procedures. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates service line performance process improvement programs to meet patient outcomes and regulatory measures. Plans clinical consulting services to support desirable clinical outcomes both during interdisciplinary team meetings and follow-up Meetings to assure patient/family needs are met. Participation in planning and program/service development, deployment, and execution. Continuous improvement and program growth.

    Operations: Strong understanding of financial analysis, forecasting, business plan development facilitates effective fiscal direction managing pertinent resources while developing budgeted staffing plans. Develops, maintains, and evaluates effectiveness of plans in provision of care. Defines and interprets goals and objectives of services and policies. Consults with Operations Director and Medical Director in establishment of patient/family policies. Directs collection, analysis, and interpretation of statistics significant to program planning. Engages in studies and investigations related to improving clinical care and, with assistance of interdisciplinary teams, plans, initiates, and evaluates changes in clinical processes. Ensures the provision of qualified human resources to meet identified patient/family care needs; develops and coordinates staffing models considering scope of practice, competency, and patient needs. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, retention, and evaluation of personnel. Ensures appropriate orientation, training, and professional development of personnel. Promotes working relationships with referral sources and with other interdependent OhioHealth departments. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulations and standards of care and quality. Participates in strategic planning. Works collaboratively with OhioHealth leadership team to achieve organization goals. Provides administrative on-call services as needed.

Plans and directs project management activities, working with other departments across the organization. Actively participates in service line, departmental and system activities. Develops and maintains professional relationships. Actively works with associates to develop goals and strategies for professional development. Develops and maintains personal professional development plan for self-continuous learning opportunities.

    Medical Records Management: Assures adequate record keeping and documentation to meet standards, auditing, and utilization review of all aspects of clinical activities. Analyzes patient data for reimbursement, quality of patient care, risk management, utilization management, and research. Implements standard work for revenue process and revenue integrity. Develops and implements policies and procedures for documenting, storing, and retrieving information, and processing medical and legal documents, insurance data, and correspondence requests, in conformance with federal, state, and local statues. Participates in the development of educational materials and conducts instructional programs for personnel regarding documentation. Participates in development and design of computer software for computerized health information system. Supervises staff in preparing and analyzing clinical documents.

    Participates in other activities within the organization or service line as necessary as assigned by Program Director.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develops and implements operational processes focused on high quality transplant services and the coordination of care across multiple, complex departments/units.

    • Develops, implements, and monitors financial plans for division. Reviews and approves fiscal planning proposals for new programs, annual budgets, and long-term goals. Leads fund development efforts collaborating with medical director and administrative leadership.

    • Manages regulatory compliance and reporting. Ensures compliance with internal policies, state and federal regulations and requirements. Oversees process for accreditation and other surveys, data submission and verification activities.

    • Develops and oversees a continuous quality improvement program for transplant division consistent with federal and state guidelines, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement plan.

    • Manages and ensures coordination across health system departments and/or clinics.

    • Manages transplant marketing opportunities in collaboration with Medical Director, Operations Director and marketing department.

    • Responsible for recruitment, performance management, professional development, performance evaluation and progressive management.

    • Instills strong leadership practices to create a culture of teamwork, collaboration, diversity, and inclusion as well as professional development of team.

    • Manages staff education programs. Works with clinical educators and leadership to evaluate core competencies in clinical care.

    • Participates in system-wide committees and strategic planning with senior leaders across services to develop plans that improve health care delivery and the coordination and/or integration of clinical services. Participates in national committees focusing on advancing the field of transplantation (UNOS and other professional associations).

    • Builds and maintains strategic partnerships across the system and in the community at large to facilitate the achievement of strategic goals and objectives.

    • Collaboration with multidisciplinary leaders for successful implementation, completion of regulatory requirements to achieve successful accreditation.

    • Supports team through compliance with all regulatory agencies specific to transplant requirements and other regulatory bodies as needed.

    • Review of all new contract negotiations to ensure legal requirements are maintained.

    • Development and implementation of all standard work documents for internal processes to create Transplant Playbook.

    • Other duties as assigned.
