    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,000 -$124,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.

    The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.

     

    We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Chief Reliability Engineer to lead our facilities maintenance team at a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the reliability, maintenance, and operational excellence of the site, ensuring compliance with GxP standards, safety protocols, and client expectations. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse team operating in a 24/7 environment, drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and foster strong client relationships through proactive communication and on-time delivery. With a focus on accountability, safety, and customer service, this position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, optimizing performance, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).

    Key Responsibilities

    + Team Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary facilities maintenance team, including electricians, Building Automation Systems (BAS) leads, safety and compliance leads, mechanical maintenance technicians, HVAC technicians, general maintenance technicians, material operations and repair specialists, and planner schedulers. Oversee team development, performance, and accountability to ensure high standards of work quality and adherence to assigned tasks.

    + Site Reliability Oversight: Champion the reliability of the entire site by planning, scheduling, and executing preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance activities. Monitor and ensure these activities align with established KPIs, minimizing equipment failures and operational disruptions.

    + Root Cause Analysis and Reporting: Conduct and oversee thorough root cause analyses for incidents or failures, preparing and presenting detailed findings and recommendations to clients. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and enhance system reliability.

    + Client Relationship Management: Manage client expectations through regular meetings, proactive communication, and collaborative problem-solving. Develop and strengthen client relationships by demonstrating a strong customer service attitude, ensuring schedule adherence, and delivering maintenance services on time and within scope.

    + Safety and Compliance Leadership: Oversee the site’s safety programs, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures, processes, and GxP regulatory requirements in a pharmaceutical environment. Promote a culture of safety, conduct audits, and enforce compliance to mitigate risks and maintain a secure workplace.

    + Operational Excellence: Drive overall operational excellence from a maintenance perspective, including efficient work order completion, vendor management, and resource allocation. Ensure seamless coverage across a 24/7 operation, including adherence to on-call schedules and rapid response to emergencies.

    + Team Development and Scheduling: Supervise the professional development of the team, fostering skill enhancement and career growth. Coordinate shift schedules, on-call rotations, and coverage to guarantee uninterrupted support for facility operations.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    + Proven experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership role within a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated industry, with a strong background in reliability engineering.

    + In-depth knowledge of compliance, preventive/predictive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., RCA, FMEA), and building automation systems.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams in a 24/7 environment, with expertise in scheduling, vendor oversight, and work order systems (e.g., CMMS).

    + Excellent client-facing skills, with a customer service-oriented mindset and a proven track record of delivering projects on time while managing expectations.

    + Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to hold teams accountable, drive performance improvements, and promote safety and operational excellence.

    + Proficiency in KPIs, data analysis, and reporting tools to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

    As the Reliability Specialist you will be expected to:

    Communication

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

    + Ability to communicate clearly via phone

    + Ability to work closely with customer during site emergencies.

    + Excellent oral and written communications

    + Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.

    + Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging system to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel.

    + Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.

    Minimum Requirements

    + 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance projects involving planning/scheduling, or a related field

    + 2 years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance projects involving planning/scheduling, or a related field.

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience; advanced certifications (e.g., CRE, CMRP) preferred

    + Experience with a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as MAXIMO, EAMS, or other database systems.

    + Proven experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership role within a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated industry, with a strong background in reliability engineering.

    + In-depth knowledge of compliance, preventive/predictive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., RCA, FMEA), and building automation systems.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams in a 24/7 environment, with expertise in scheduling, vendor oversight, and work order systems (e.g., CMMS).

    + Proficiency in KPIs, data analysis, and reporting tools to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

    + Ability to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

    + Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.

    + Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

    + Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

    + Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

    + Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

    + This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

    Some physical/special requirements include:

    + Regularly lift to 50 lbs

    + Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

    + Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement.

    + Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

    + Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

    + Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

    + Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

    + Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

    Preferred Requirements

    + Technical degree preferred.

    + Knowledgeable in best-in-class maintenance practices and predictive maintenance activities.

    + Demonstrated performance as a Reliability Engineer on previous industrial/manufacturing projects in the Facility/Process Maintenance Management Industry.

    + Demonstrated technical background of operations in an industrial/manufacturing/research facilities environment, including experience related to production equipment projects.

    + Ability to focus on customer relations and client partnering.

    + Certifications in Level I Ultrasound, Vibration, IR, or Oil/Lubrication.

    + Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.

    + Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.

    + Experience working with heavy industrial or manufacturing plant steam systems, centrifugal chillers, air handling units, turbines, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.

    + Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.

    + Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
