Shift: Day/Night Rotations and Weekends/Holidays

This position performs duties in all areas of the Women & Children’s Unit. Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Sorts, cleans and inspects surgical instruments in accordance with standard procedures and techniques. Prepares instruments for transport to sterile processing. Handles medication under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse. Assists medical staff and nurses in vaginal deliveries including setting up instruments, equipment and supplies, and cleaning equipment and instruments. Performs nursing assistant duties including but not limited to: obtaining vital signs, height and weight measurements, assist patients with feeding, and other activities of daily living. Assists nursing staff as directed; preparation, positioning, transports, transfer and discharge of patient. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Provides indirect care in the department setting under the direction of the Charge Nurse. Transcribes orders from records, faxes to appropriate destination. Performs detailed and accurate assignments and compiles information to ensure accurate records.
