Major/Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the Director of Events Operations, this position plays a key role in the success of the facility and events operations department, overseeing game day operations, logistics, and facility maintenance for their assigned sports.
+ Serve as event manager for assigned sports, working closely with coaches, campus police, emergency medical services, parking attendants, game officials, security personnel, visiting teams, guest services, and the event staff. Duties include confirming arrangements in advance, delivering and retrieving necessary materials or equipment, and promptly addressing any issues that arise during events.
+ Provide comprehensive day-to-day support for pre-event operations, assisting with the setup and preparation of facilities on the days leading up to athletic events. Responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-game inspections of all venues to ensure readiness.
+ Assist with the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, and management of event workers, to ensure adequate staffing levels for all athletic events. This includes participating in interviews, facilitating orientation and training sessions, and scheduling staff for events.
+ Maintain operations area equipment, ensuring all game day assets—including flags, radios, apparel, signage, and related inventory—are properly stored, maintained, and readily available for use. This includes conducting regular checks, coordinating repairs or replacements, and keeping accurate records.
+ Provide hands-on support in event management across a broad range of sports, including Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Golf, Tennis, as well as UIL and playoff events. This involves coordinating logistics, ensuring compliance with operational plans, and delivering an exceptional game day experience.
+ Direct, supervise, or support the execution of the Big 12 Conference and NCAA tournaments hosted by Texas Tech. Requires knowledge of Athletics, University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
+ Utilize technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop to produce professional documents, reports, and operational materials as needed to support department initiatives.
+ Support the department’s maintenance objectives by proactively identifying facility or operational issues and diligently following up to ensure timely resolution.
+ Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to the demands of collegiate athletics, including the ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
+ Maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable two-year driving record, in accordance with university policies, to support transportation needs related to operations.
+ Strictly adhere to all NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies, serving as a representative of the university’s commitment to integrity and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in event management, facility operations, or athletics administration, preferably in a collegiate or professional sports setting.
+ Experience managing athletic events and/or tournaments, with knowledge of NCAA and conference policies and procedures.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including but not limited to coaches, officials, law enforcement, and campus partners.
+ Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred.
+ Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50-70 lbs., and perform physical tasks related to event setup and teardown.
+ Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the athletics event schedule.
