    Molson Coors is recruiting for the exciting position of **State Tax Senior (Sr.) Analyst** on our U.S. state tax team based in Milwaukee. The State Tax Sr. Analyst is responsible for the support and management of the Company’s U.S. state and local indirect tax obligations and related processes. Our U.S. state tax team serves a critical role in managing the Company’s overall tax position by providing a range of tax services to our business, including tax advice, reporting, compliance support, controversy resolution and oversight of tax technology solutions. More specifically, this role assists with the determination of the Company’s U.S. indirect state tax liabilities, including sales & use, excise and property tax, as well as supports the preparation of related tax returns and management of our indirect tax technology platform. Reporting to the State Tax Manager, the State Tax Sr. Analyst will have ample opportunities for technical growth, as well as professional, leadership and career development in an environment that fosters continuous learning, collaboration and excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Support the continuous U.S. indirect tax compliance process through preparation, review and filing of our numerous tax returns for sales & use, excise and property tax.

    + Lead technical maintenance, updating and mapping of our indirect tax technology platform, which we rely on for tax determination, compliance and data management. Relatedly, support the pursuit of process improvements to our indirect tax technology solutions and their integration with our broader business processing systems.

    + Assist in the review and reconciliation of the Company’s quarterly and annual U.S. indirect tax accounts and accounting for indirect tax contingent positions related to our operations, as well as support compliance with our internal accounting controls.

    + Assist in the forecasting of our indirect tax obligations and cash tax liability, including the preparation and review of tax entries and related explanations of key activity and variances for Company leadership.

    + Research and analyze the implications to the Company of state indirect tax rate and law changes as well as business developments, including entry into new markets, supply chain changes, and product innovation.

    + Guide the successful resolution of audits and appeals of and general inquiries into the Company’s U.S. state indirect tax positions by taxing authorities through the preparation of information requests, position development and liaison with auditing agents.

    + Provide tax advice to our many internal stakeholders and business partners on various indirect tax matters, including sales & use tax exemptions, excise tax determination, and tax savings opportunities.

    + Assist with developing and delivering periodic training on sales & use tax matters to the tax team’s partnering functions, including accounting, sales, legal and procurement.

     

    Candidate Profile

     

    The successful candidate must possess a strong desire to grow and learn and appreciate a challenging, yet rewarding work experience. She or he should be able to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines within Molson Coors’ fast-moving environment and flexible hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate must be collaborative and a strong team player who asks questions and seeks new ways to approach existing challenges.

    Required Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

    + At least 4 years of U.S. state indirect tax (specifically, sales & use and/or excise tax) compliance experience with an accounting firm or large U.S.-based corporation

    + Demonstrated experience with assessing the indirect tax implications of business activity, and basic indirect tax principles and concepts, including, nexus, “point of sale,” exemption status, and resale certificates

    + Proven experience with tax technology tools and software, such as tax automation, tax determination and tax reporting solutions like Vertex

    + Demonstrated experience with SAP or similar ERP system

    + Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

    + Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

    + Effective written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Experience

    + Strong knowledge of Vertex or similar indirect tax software and SAP or similar ERP system

    + Experience supporting the property tax function of a large manufacturing business from cost review to forecasting, preparing renditions and managing the appeals process

    + Experience managing audits, appeals and inquiries by U.S. state taxing authorities, including performing related diligence and drafting responses to information requests

    + Experience supporting the analysis and implementation of indirect tax planning opportunities

    + Familiarity with Canadian sales tax system _,_ e.g., GST, PST and HST

    + Working knowledge in automation tools and technologies, including data analytics tools such as data extraction, transformation and visualization, e.g., SQL, Power Query, Power BI, Tableau

    At Molson Coors, we’re committed to paying people fairly and equitably for the work they do.

     

    **Job Posting Total Rewards Offerings** : **$81,600.00** **-** **$107,100.00** (posting salary range) + **10** **%** target short term incentive + **$23,000** on average spent on benefits per employee, including but not limited to health, dental, vision, retirement with above market employer match, wellness incentives and EAP + paid time off (including holidays, vacation days and sick days).

     

    The posting range provided above for salary is what we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors that inform pay decisions including but not limited to the required work location, previous work experience, skill set and internal equity.
