MAJOR DUTIES:
As a proactive member of the Finance Team, the Division Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the division accounting function. They will ensure that all operating results are reported accurately on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Division Controller will be a team-player leader, with relationship skills to establish the accounting function as a value-add to operations leadership.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Be hands on and take ownership for the closing of books each month
+ Responsible for the accounting function including AR, AP, and account reconciliations
+ Responsible for monthly, quarterly year-end, and ad hoc reporting
+ Review, Interpret and communicate financial results to Senior Leadership team
+ Drive financial control and accounting improvement opportunities through the organization, and work as a partner with operations, manufacturing, and sales
+ Work within ERP to pull and analyze data for financial reporting and accounting
+ Prepare divisional annual budgets, forecasts and long-term plans as required. Identify areas of risk within business plans. Prepare an executive summary of the business plan for the division for the executive team. Work with an executive team to develop strategic plans for the division.
+ Work with the GM to develop and implement a performance measurement system for the division, including implementation of the ATS scorecard at the division.
+ With assistance from the division and corporate IT management as well as the Vice President, Finance, ensure that the management information systems at the division adequately meet the business needs in terms of transactional processing and financial reporting.
+ Oversee department rates, budgets, planning, Capex, and timely actual reporting is provided to department managers for effective decision making by department managers.
+ Responsible for preparing audit working papers on a quarterly basis, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled.

Education:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
+ CPA or CMA preferred
+ Public Accounting experience a plus
+ Understanding of GAAP or IFRS
Experience:
+ Minimum of four years of accounting experience
+ Experience with process design and implementation in accounting area
+ Strong background in financial analysis, inventory accounting, and a solid understanding of cost accounting
+ Experience working with international entities (particularly Canadian), including FX and other challenges related to consolidation and transfer pricing
+ Experience working with small-midsize industrial companies, either as a public-accountant to, or an employee for those organizations
+ Experience with PoC – Percentage of Completion Accounting
+ Adept with ERP systems, Global Shop Solutions and OneStream is a plus
+ Experience as a Controller or a Sr. Accountant looking to take the next step in their career
+ Experience in a manufacturing company and/or publicly traded company experience a plus
+ Must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his or her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.
