    Summary This position is located within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation (OST), Office of Mission Operations (OMO), Agent Operations Eastern Command (AOEC) in Oak Ridge, TN. A successful candidate in this position will lead a team of highly specialized protective forces, responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and/or hazardous nuclear materials. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Nuclear Materials Courier, you will: Serve as a Squad Commander, with a full range of supervisory responsibilities for Nuclear Materials Couriers and support staff. Performs the full range of supervisory duties, such as assigning and evaluating work performance, establishing training objectives, directing training activities of subordinates, recognizing, and disciplining staff, and resolving employee grievances. Provide both administrative and technical direction to a highly specialized protective force that is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and/or hazardous materials. Serve as a member of the Special Response Force (SRF) team tasked with leading the pursuit and recovery of cargo unlawfully removed from an Office of Secure Transportation (OST) shipment's custody and control. Direct the response of resources in an emergency. Requirements Conditions of Employment Subject to Random Drug Testing Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Favorable suitability determination required. Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance. You must be a United States Citizen. This employer participates in the e-Verify program. Males must abide by Selective Service registration requirements. Compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) governing personal identity which will require that you provide two forms of identification. A one year probationary period may be required. The Department of Energy requires couriers on a continuing basis meet physical requirements, weapons qualifications, and first aid training requirements. Satisfactory completion of a training academy. Required to carry a firearm and maintain qualifications on assigned weapons. The OST Mission is performed on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis. Employees are subject to participation in both scheduled and unscheduled emergency response exercises and events. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the NV-03 pay band or GS-12 level. Qualifying specialized experience for this position includes: leading Nuclear Materials Courier personnel assigned to the employee's command; skill in security planning; conducting or overseeing threat assessments of potential hostilities; and must have a current Special Response Force (SRF) certification. Examples of Specialized Experience include: Leading a team of Nuclear Material Courier personnel in the safe and secure transportation of hazardous nuclear weapons, nuclear weapon components, and/or special nuclear material. Developing and executing operational, security, and tactical plans for assigned convoys. Identifying and obtaining resources needed to accomplish mission operations. Directing and coordinating the work of agents while on mission operations. Demonstrated skill in security planning. Conducting or overseeing threat assessments of potential hostilities. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no qualifying education for this position, series and grade.
