    Job Summary

    The School of Applied Technologies is seeking a Project Coordinator to help lead the continued implementation of career and technical education programs into the Competency-Based Education (CBE) pedagogical model. The CBE model allows students flexibility in when they demonstrate their proficiency of specific student learning outcomes while maintaining quality and rigor.

     

    Specifically, as the project Coordinator you support faculty, staff, and industry partners to redesign curriculum, establish course models, and assist with developing assessment protocols for current programs transitioning to CBE and for new programs that are designed with this model. With HVAC fully transitioned and Industrial Automation launching in Fall 2025, the Welding program is the final focus of this grant. As Project Coordinator, you will lead efforts to finalize curriculum integration, support assessment development, and coordinate course delivery for Welding. You will also contribute to sustaining the CBE model in HVAC and Industrial Automation by supporting documentation, evaluation activities, and institutionalization of best practices.

    Essential Job Functions

    Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Coordinates with HCC Industrial Automation, HVAC and Welding faculty, the dean over those programs, partner college staff and the consortium director at DMACC to integrate CBE into those programs.

    + Provides direction to the Pathway Navigator to ensure student advising, outreach, and support strategies are aligned with grant goals, academic planning structures, and CBE program timelines.

    + Coordinates project marketing efforts with HCC Marketing Department and the DMACC consortium director.

    + Prepares and submits all necessary programmatic reports.

    + Participates in industry meetings and in any statewide required consortium meetings for the Industrial Automation and Community Colleges: A Pathway Froward grant.

    + Works with HCC CIS/Teaching and Learning Center to develop a system for CBE participant tracking and for CBE integration into CANVAS.

    + Collaborates with Business office and Grants office to submit financial reports and requests to DMACC.

    + Tracks and oversees that the project spending is reasonable, allowable and in line with institutional and federal standards.

    + Contributes to cross-functional initiatives aligned with grant outcomes.

    + Participates in campus committees as assigned.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in education, management, business, manufacturing or project management or related field.

    + Three years of relevant work experience required.

    + Demonstrated strong organizational, time management and planning skills.

    + Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively interact with students, faculty, and staff and to compile data and write reports as required by grant activities.

    + Demonstrated leadership skills and administrative skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and maintain focus through completion of projects.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage grant activities in support of grant objectives with minimal supervision.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.

    + Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.

    + Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.

    + Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

    + Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.

    + A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through inclusive behaviors and helping contribute to a culture of inclusivity, and a vibrant, diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master’s Degree.

    + Knowledge and familiarity with advanced manufacturing.

    + Three or more years of educational experience.

     

    Working Conditions

     

    Anticipated schedule is: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30pm with occasional evening hours due to business need.

     

    Requires skills for succeeding in an office, classroom and/or industrial laboratory setting, using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Work is performed in an office, classroom, lab, and/or clinical setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computer.

     

    Employment Status

     

    Full-time, exempt, grant funded position with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; tuition reimbursement/remission; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).

     

    + This is a specially funded position through a Strengthening Community Colleges grant through 2/28/2027 with renewal of grant funding not anticipated.

    + Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience with a salary range starting at $53,300.
