Summary You will serve as INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST in the of Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit (NEPMU) FIVE, San Diego, CA NAVENPVNTMEDU 5 SAN DIEGO Responsibilities You will serve in a multidisciplinary science position in the Training and Operations Department, advising, administering, supervising, instructing, managing, or performing professional and scientific industrial hygiene (IH) and IH chemistry work. You will manage industrial hygiene equipment maintenance and possess significant experience in industrial hygiene, laboratory chemistry, field hazardous waste/materials, environmental principles, and teaching at various levels of complexity. You will instruct users of Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Units (FDPMU) chemical component instruments using standard curricula teach on the operation of the instruments for chemical warfare agent detection. You will provide primary consultation and ?reach-back? support to deployed FDPMU and other DoD, Federal, state, and local agency instrument operators in the field. You will provide expert advice and technical services on all field-portable chemical detection, identification, and quantification instruments equipment Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH).
