The CNC Operator Junior performs intermediate CNC setup operations, bending, and maintenance, and has knowledge of CNC machines within the machine shop. This role involves machining parts to precise tolerances and specifications while strictly adhering to safety and procedural guidelines. The CNC Operator Junior can work consistently, quickly, and accurately without compromising quality and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Intermediate knowledge of reading production instructions, processes, and procedures, including interpreting and translating engineering designs and documentation.

• Operate press brake or bending machines to shape and form metal according to technical drawings.

• Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to produce parts according to blueprints, specifications, and holding of part tolerances.

• Intermediate identification and knowledge of basic fixtures, changing fixtures, tooling, and tooling offsets.

• Understand G and M Codes and make necessary edits for speeds/feeds.

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as mics and calipers to ensure that parts meet quality standards and specifications.

• Collaborates with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to resolve technical issues and improve production processes.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly working environment.

• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Basic math skills along with mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and follow verbal and written directions.

• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Working Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations.

• Walking or standing on the Plant floor.

• Frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without help.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

• Three to five years of CNC machine operations in a manufacturing environment.
