    Su mmary

     

    Functions as a registrar/customer service representative for office visit and outpatient procedures. Conducts professional patient interviews to obtain demographic, financial, and biographical information. Processes registrations in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. Responsible for cashier duties including collection of patient co-pays at time of service, as well as receiving payments on patient accounts. Counsels self pay patients and discusses the payment options that may be available to them. Answers patient inquiries in person and by telephone regarding bills, medication refills, and other medical concerns. Directs patient inquiries to the appropriate department when unable to resolve the problem. Responsible for obtaining and entering insurance information for proper filing of claims.

    Education

    Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent (GED).

     

    Licensure/Certification

     

    None.

    Experience

    Must have front office experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. PC experience preferred.

    Other Qualifications

    Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to type 40 wpm. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must be able to perform basic math calculations. Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently. Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills.
