Summary:
+ Position Summary: This position primarily supports patients through phone, in-person or written correspondence and is equipped to support the department in other areas as needed, including but not limited to: performing patient screenings to initiate applications for programs such as LG Health’s Financial Assistance program, PA Medical Assistance and pharmacy assistance. This position works closely with patients to understand their financial concerns and provides immediate resolution or coordinates resolution with a Financial Counselor II or other departments as appropriate.
+ Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
+ Acts as initial point of contact for patient and performs follow up tasks with patient as necessary.
+ Completes one of the following processes:
+ A: Performs Financial Assistance and PA Medical Assistance screenings and completion of applications, establishes payment plans, posts account adjustments, verifies and builds insurance coverage, resubmits claims, and provides service recovery.
+ B: Assesses applicants for Financial Assistance program eligibility.
+ Maintains an understanding of the revenue cycle which includes insurance billing, associated correspondence e.g. eobs, electronic remittance advises etc. and account adjustments. Independently identifies, resolves or directs issues to the appropriate party.
+ Attempts to understand patient needs and offers guidance and resolution of issues through collaboration with team members and outside departments.
+ Reviews Financial Assistance and PA Medical Assistance applications and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy, working closely with patients throughout the application process and directing to a Financial Counselor II as appropriate.
+ Thoroughly documents patient communication conducted over the phone, in person or electronically.
+ Tracks and monitors trends; maintains work queues and benchmarks.
+ Reports all potential problems and issues immediately.
+ Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times when working with PHI.
+ Maintains knowledge of, compliance with, and enforces the following: Financial Assistance Policy, PA Medical Assistance guidelines, 501r Federal Regulations, and Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
+ The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ Provides ongoing support and training to internal and external staff as needed, assists in maintaining training documents and resources as needed.
+ Processes and follows special accounts.
+ Assists with special projects as assigned.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School Diploma or equivalent GED .
+ One 1 year prior Customer Service, Billing and Account Resolution experience.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Microsoft Office experience.
+ Strong organizational skills.
+ Ability to apply strong analytical qualities.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
