General Purpose
As a Control Room Operator Geothermal, you will be expected to operate, monitor, and control plant electric generating units and associated systems to insure safe, efficient, and continuous production of electricity under the direction and review of the Plant Manager, Operations Supervisors, and in conjunction with the System Dispatcher.
Responsibilities
You will:
+ Operate turbines, generators, and all associated systems and auxiliary equipment from the control center board, either manually or by automatic control, for safe, controlled production of electrical energy.
+ Monitor plant and auxiliary equipment operations at the control board, charts, meters, and gauges to insure proper plant operation.
+ Maintain proper voltage and current.
+ Synchronize the generator.
+ Control Steam pressure, steam flow, and brine flow during operations.
+ Coordinate steam production, brine re-injection and well site operations with Steam Field Operator. - Troubleshoot operating problems from control board.
+ Initiate corrective action, when necessary, and take equipment in and out of service for repairs in a safe and orderly fashion.
+ Delegated representative responsible for execution and monitoring of the Generation Tag out procedure.
+ Coordinate with Dispatchers to govern generator load and system voltage.
+ Report load and restriction conditions to Dispatchers, and receive switching orders and initiate switching.
+ Maintain a shift log to insure accurate records and prepare daily reports concerning plant heat rate, steam production, megawatt output, etc. Requires math and analytical problem solving skills.
+ Take hourly readings on plant equipment and systems for reporting operating status to Plant Engineer or other plant staff personnel for determining plant efficiency.
+ Direct and delegate orders to Plant Operators, Maintenance Group and Steam Field Operators to maintain proper control of all generating systems and associated auxiliary systems and equipment.
+ Answer plant phones and direct calls to the requested individual or department as necessary.
+ Perform necessary housekeeping duties as assigned.
+ Routinely Train other Control Room Operators (geothermal) and Plant Operators (geothermal) when called upon to do so. - Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance rounds on all site equipment.
+ Conduct; Pre-Start, Normal operating and Trip situation, equipment checkout tasks.
+ Perform light plant and equipment maintenance. Lubrication, filter changes, heat exchanger cleaning, etc..
+ Support maintenance group in the performance of plant maintenance. - Routinely perform the tasks identified as Plant Operator duties.
+ Knowledge of plant communication devices and with the responsibility to direct plant and outside personnel according to the Blundell Emergency Response Procedure
+ Must be able to respond to and carry out verbal instructions given; face to face, via radio or telephone. - Assist in the review and update of plant documentation, i.e., Procedures, PandIDs, etc.. - Perform regular plant cleaning.
+ Complete operational PM as assigned.
+ Must be able to utilize basic computer skills in the development and completion of plant documents and reports. Must be able to conduct basic email communication. Must be proficient with basic math skills. -
+ Routine complete tasks, in which the employee is trained and can safely perform, as assigned by plant management. This represents a major portion of the job.
+ Other similar duties may be assigned.
+ When management determines that it is efficient to do so, employees in this classification may be assigned duties of less complexity.
Requirements
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Control Room Operator experience.
+ May be filled at the CRO Trainee, CRO, or CRO Certified level per attached hiring priority.
