Meal Program Server/Maintenance Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Server and maintenance staff are crucial at Arts in Action . We believe that our campus reflects our school community and that providing healthy and nutritious food and maintaining a clean and safe campus is integral to a happy and inviting school environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maintaining the school meal serving areas, including taking accurate temperature readings of the food and milk
+ Counting breakfasts, lunches, and suppers after they are delivered, comparing them to the delivery sheet, and reporting inconsistencies.
+ Ensuring that the meals are of good quality and not spoiled. If any meals are of bad quality, he/she must promptly report this to the vendor and the school meal manager.
+ Preparing the area for serving by cleaning it using cleaning methods described in the Food Safety Handbook and setting up the lunch line.
+ Ensuring the serving line contains the appropriate posters and notifications.
+ Serving breakfast, lunch, and supper to all students
+ Ensuring that students are taking all of the components of a reimbursable meal. (Milk, fruit, etc.)
+ Monitoring daily food waste
+ Keeping transportation records, menus, and temperature logs organized
+ Directing any meal program complaints to the Meal Program Manager
+ Be the primary contact for meal vendor if the Meal Program Manager is absent
+ Cleaning: mopping, sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and deep cleaning as scheduled.
+ Basic plumbing (unclogging toilets, etc), basic painting, changing light fixtures
+ Keeping the campus compliant with State Licensing, OSHA, Fire, Health, and Safety Regulations
+ Assisting school administrators with large-volume supply deliveries and managing stock and storage areas
+ Assisting the Operations Manager with yearly inventories as needed
+ Additional duties as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ CPR Certification (will receive training)
+ Serve Safe Food Handling Certification (will receive training)
+ Highly preferred:
+ General handy work and custodial workability.
+ Have at least 1 year of janitorial experience or work experience
+ Have a high school diploma or equivalency
+ A quick learner and worker
+ Able to take and sometimes give directions
+ Detail-oriented and who can take initiative as needed
+ Flexible and able to adapt to new situations
+ Ability to work on a team
+ Reliable and punctual
+ Ability to multitask and prioritize
+ Ability to act positively with children
+ Strong Organizational Skills

+ This position works primarily indoors in indoor offices with some outdoor work (including eating and common area(s), auditorium, playground(s), restroom(s), stairs if applicable, and parking lot(s)) with the following possible exposures: dust; wind; sun; insects; bloodborne pathogens and biohazardous waste; variances in temperature (50 degrees to 120 degrees); variances in weather conditions (snow, rain, sleet, etc.); noise which can range from quiet to loud (over 600 students on campus at any given time); fast-paced work environment with possible stressful situations and need to multi-task; traffic congestion; playground projectiles such as baseballs, footballs, basketballs, etc.; intervening physically to stop conflicts between angry or emotionally upset students; and, dealing with students, parents, employees and the general public who may exhibit unpredictable or anti-social behavior.
+ Employees in this position may have a higher level of exposure to illness or infection from students.
+ May be exposed to students who may ask inappropriately personal questions, display socially unacceptable behavior, display physically aggressive behavior, and insult your characteristics, including appearance, ace, age, sex, and race.
+ There is also frequent contact with staff and the public.
+ Handle quick turnaround times, multiple deadlines, and prioritizing multiple tasks
+ Handling high levels of stressful situations and responsibilities
+ Consistent attendance
