    Position: Emergency Department Technician/Health Unit Coord/Admit Clerk

     

    Department: Emergency Department

     

    Shift: Full time days 7am-7:30pm, 72 hours per pay

     

    Facility: Miami Valley Hospital South

     

    The Emergency Department Technician/Health Unit Coordinator/Admission Clerk works under the direction of a RN as part of the health care team to assist with patient care activities. She/He will directly/indirectly impact the patient outcomes and care provided to our customers.

    DIMENSION/SCOPE:

    The Emergency Department Technician/ Health Unit Coordinator/Admission Clerk works under the direct supervision of the RN and is accountable to the RN for patient care activities in multiple functions. Patient care is delegated at the judgment and assessment of the RN. The EDT/HUC/Admission Clerk is responsible for completing clerical duties and facilitates the Quick Arrival function for Patient Access to expedite flow. This person has to be self directed in assisting others, flexible and quickly adapts to rapid change in work environment.

    Education: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.

     

    Training: you'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).

    Experience: No previous job experience is required, but you should have one of the following:

    + Finished EMT, STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.

    + Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (like taking their temperature, bathing them, or helping them use the restroom)

    + Currently in nursing school and finished one clinical rotation.

    Other Skills:

    You can handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.

     

    You know how to use a computer.

     

    You're good at organizing things.

     

    You can talk and listen well to others.

     

    Bonus points: You've worked in a hospital before.
