Cleveland Clinic's Head & Neck Institute is one of the most distinguished otolaryngology medical centers in the country. The multi-specialty institute is made up of more than 40 staff physicians practicing several highly specialized tertiary care services including Hearing and Speech, Head and Neck Surgery, Laryngotracheal Reconstruction, Nasal and Sinus Disorders, Otology-Neurotology, Pediatric Otolaryngology and Vestibular and Balance Disorders.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting. Your primary duties will include, but are not limited to providing direct nursing care, assessing health status, performing telephone triage, communicating abnormal findings, establishing care plans, assisting with specialized procedures and patient care equipment and administering medications and treatments.
A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Assess patient health status through comprehensive nursing assessment, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
+ Notify physicians or licensed independent providers (LIPs) of abnormal findings.
+ Coordinate with care coordinators to ensure smooth transitions of care.
+ Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians or LIPs, monitor patient responses and assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
+ Support the use and maintenance of specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and assigned medical specialty.
+ Provide patient and family education; develop, adapt, evaluate and document educational content based on individual learning needs.
+ Assist in creating department-specific education for both patients and staff.
+ Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as needed.
+ Provide coverage for other nursing roles within the department.
+ Facilitate the smooth operation of ambulatory care areas and support quality initiatives, process improvements and research to enhance patient outcomes, safety and experience.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN program)
+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
+ One-year recent experience as a Registered Nurse

Physical Requirements:
+ Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
+ Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
+ May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
+ Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
+ Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
