BayCare is currently in search of our newest Histologist Lead to join the laboratory team who is passionate about providing outstanding patient care and customer service to the community we serve!

The Histologist Lead is responsible for all phases of tissue processing from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques, performs specialized procedures, researches new techniques and instrumentation, assists lab manager with daily responsibilities, assigns staff to meet work assignments, assists in maintaining and revising policies and procedures, maintains files, records, and documentation required by state and federal licensing boards, cleans and maintains equipment and instruments, orders, stocks and maintains supplies and performs other duties as assigned.

+ **Shift Hours:** 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

+ **Weekend Work:** Occasional

+ **On Call:** No

Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for all phases of tissue processing from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques.

+ Performs specialized procedures.

+ Research new techniques and instrumentation.

+ Assists Lab Manager with daily responsibilities.

+ Assigns staff to meet work assignments.

+ Assists in maintaining and revising policies and procedures.

+ Maintains files, records and documentation required by state and federal licensing boards.

+ Maintains equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.

+ Order, stocks and maintains supplies.

+ Demonstrate organizational, time management, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.

+ Use computer skills appropriate to position.

+ Needs to use and understand medical terminology.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Certification & Licensure:

+ State of Florida Histology License required

+ ASCP certified preferred

Education:

+ High School or Equivalent required

+ Technical College in Histotechnology, Associate's degree preferred

Experience:

+ Five (5) years laboratory related required

+ One (1) year Supervisory role in related field preferred

+ Knowledge of CAP regulations, Immunohistochemistry validation process and troubleshooting skills are required
