Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Smithfield, Rhode Island. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, and supporting the overall efficiency of our construction-focused business. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and have a strong grasp of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries for the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

• Process accounts payable invoices, match them to purchase orders, and route for necessary approvals.

• Manage accounts receivable billing processes and apply customer payments in a timely manner.

• Conduct monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards to maintain financial integrity.

• Assist in developing and maintaining schedules for prepaid expenses and fixed assets while recording monthly amortizations and depreciation.

• Provide support for job costing and organizational tracking within a construction-focused environment.

• Help establish and maintain inventory accounting processes for materials used in projects.

• Collaborate on documentation required for audits or project close-outs.

• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support the team. Requirements • Solid experience with accounts payable processes and invoice management.

• Proficiency in general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

• Strong understanding of accounts receivable and customer payment applications.

• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate bank and credit card reconciliations.

• Familiarity with job costing and inventory accounting in a construction setting.

• Knowledge of prepaid schedules, fixed asset registers, and depreciation methods.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to adapt to various accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
