Our client is a leading construction company that specializes in delivering high-quality projects on time and under budget. Known for their commitment to innovation, quality, and excellence, they are seeking a meticulous and driven Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and aiding in the operational success of the organization.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

+ Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper coding of transactions and accuracy of financial records.

+ Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement adjustments.

+ Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Ensure robust construction industry-specific reporting, such as project cost accounting.

+ Oversee job cost accounting, monitor percentage-of-completion reporting, and ensure accurate allocation of costs to projects.

+ Assist with the preparation, management, and analysis of budgets and forecasts, and provide variance analysis for management.

+ Maintain and improve internal controls over accounting processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.

+ Prepare schedules and documentation to support audits and liaise with external auditors during reviews. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, construction-specific accounting requirements, and reporting obligations.

+ Optimize the usage of ERP software for project forecasting, reporting, and financial management.

+ Work closely with project managers, procurement, and leadership to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.

Requirements

+ Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with 2 years in the construction industry

+ Strong understanding of job costing and/or percentage-of-completion accounting is a must.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

+ Proficiency with construction-specific ERP software is essential (e.g., Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Procore, or Viewpoint).

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, macros, financial modeling).

+ In-depth understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly as it applies to construction accounting.

+ Knowledge of WIP (Work in Progress) reporting and compliance with construction contract standards.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally.
