Description
Our client, a respected and well-established company in the property management industry, is seeking a skilled Senior Accounting Clerk to join their growing team. This role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic industry while utilizing your accounting expertise to support the financial health of a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to take on a pivotal position within the accounting department.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
+ Manage the processing of incoming invoices, vendor payments, and tenant receivables. Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
+ Complete regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card transactions, and other financial accounts.
+ Post journal entries, assist with general ledger reconciliations, and ensure accurate coding of transactions.
+ Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for owned and managed properties.
+ Assist with maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of properties, including tracking rent payments, lease agreements, and expense allocations.
+ Prepare and organize accounting records to assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.
+ Collaborate with property managers, vendors, and tenants to resolve accounting discrepancies and inquiries in a timely manner.
+ Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting efficiencies.
Requirements
+ Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a property management or real estate environment
+ High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
+ Strong familiarity with property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio).
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including intermediate-level skills (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups).
+ Understanding of property management accounting principles, including rent rolls, CAM (common area maintenance) reconciliations, and lease abstraction.
+ High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ Effective verbal and written communication for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
