Description We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Plant Accountant to join our team in Kentwood, Michigan. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity of a dynamic manufacturing environment by overseeing plant-level accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cost accounting, financial reporting, and inventory management to support decision-making and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Manage month-end closing activities, including preparing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Conduct detailed variance analyses to identify trends and drivers impacting financial performance.
• Oversee inventory accounting processes, including cycle counts and discrepancy resolution, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with operations teams to provide actionable insights for cost management and process improvements.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and macros, to enhance reporting and streamline data analysis.
• Maintain and ensure accuracy within ERP systems, supporting transactional data integrity and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, recommending enhancements where appropriate.
• Prepare detailed reports and analyses to assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
• Support audits and provide documentation to meet regulatory and organizational requirements. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a plant accountant role or manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in month-end close activities, general ledger management, and account reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of inventory processes, including cycle counts and resolving discrepancies.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and macros.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as QAD or similar platforms.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, capable of working across departments effectively.
