    Description

    Shop Service Technician in our Chassis department is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of various types of heavy machinery with a focus on quality and efficiency. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to very high safety standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on site to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

    + Perform work with efficiency and within dealership flat rate guidelines.

    + Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.

    + Replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps and lines, cylinders and a variety of other components.

    + Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers and backhoes.

    + Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to test and troubleshoot complex machinery operations and malfunctions.

    + Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriage components.

    + Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with Caterpillar’s Contamination Control Guidelines and ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly

    + Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.

    + Provide technical advice and support to other technicians on proper equipment repair and maintenance.

    + Ensure that machines are repaired according to Caterpillar standards.

    + Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment by utilizing Cat Interact and write accurate and detailed service reports.

    + Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.

    + Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.

    + Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.

    + Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.

    + Must have and maintain a standard set of Mechanics tooling including up to ¾ drive.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    + Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

    + At least 5 - 6 years of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.

    + Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.

    + You must be willing to work in other departments when necessary to care of the customers’ needs.
