Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Iowa State University seeks qualified applicants for a Student Services Coordinator III to provide support and assistance to the academic advising office within the department. The Student Services Coordinator III will be responsible for working with students, administration, advisers, and faculty members to ensure the needs of the students are met. This position will entail skillfully addressing student and parent inquiries regarding academic advising and assisting with recruitment and other student events.
The successful candidate will have effective management and organizational skills, the ability to work well with a diverse population, and the ability to communicate effectively. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
This position is expected to be in office M-F as the face of the ME Advising department.
Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
+ Greeting and directing office traffic
+ Answering questions from a variety of audiences
+ Planning and coordinating Graduation and Welcome Back Events
+ Preparing concise reports related to student/course information
+ Assisting advising staff with policy enforcement
+ Processing and handling confidential student information with discretion
+ Gathering appropriate data and interpreting data for different audiences
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship
Level Guidelines• Senior-level position applies advanced and specialized expertise and competencies• Typically receives general supervision with high level guidance on the most complex assignments• Completes assignments which are moderately difficult or difficult• Resolves issues, including atypical issues, and makes recommendations• May lead projects of limited scope• Functions as “go to.” Responds to inquiries and requests from others inside and outside work area• May act as a lead, assigning tasks and providing guidance to lower level workers• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team• Provides guidance to students
