    This is a Full-Time (72 hrs/week) 12-hour NIGHT shift that may include weekends at Scripps Encinitas.

    We invite you to join our highly collaborative Emergency Department team as an Emergency Department Technician.

     

    As an ED Tech, you will support emergency department or urgent care by performing basic emergency medical procedures as directed. In addition…

     

    * Under supervision, assists nurses and physicians in the performance of their functions.

    * Performs assessment of vital signs, thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of simple dressings and splints, stool and urine collection.

    * Prepares patients for examinations/treatments including draping patients, opening sterile supplies, set up and removal of IV's.

    * Assist in collection of patient history and ensures confidentiality of records.

    * Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures including changing of bed linens and restocking of room supplies.

    * May transport patients and/or provide coverage for the unit secretary.

    Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

    * Certified CA state issued EMT (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic) or CNA

    * BLS Healthcare Provider Certifications through American Heart Association

    Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

    * 2 years EMT experience

    * One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting

    * Experience in emergency services

    * EMT certification
