We are seeking an experienced Sr. Payroll Lead to join our team on a contract basis, with the potential for extension. This hybrid position offers flexibility, allowing you to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, while being in the office from Tuesday to Thursday. You will be responsible for managing payroll processing and auditing tasks for a large employee base, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
Responsibilities
+ Manage payroll tasks, focusing on processing, reviewing, auditing, and quarter-end/year-end activities.
+ Handle biweekly payroll for a team of 5, managing the salaries of 6,500 – 7,500 employees.
+ Review and approve off-cycle checks submitted by the payroll team.
+ Address complex payroll inquiries, including leave and escalated questions.
+ Audit data flow from Workday to ADP and ensure tax assignments are correct.
+ Generate ADP reports and preview year-end reports to prevent W-2 errors.
+ Collaborate with a payroll accountant for auditing and reviewing entries in UKG.
+ Perform audits, address multi-state tax issues, and document audit processes.
+ Work with the Payroll Lead and Analyst to maintain smooth operations.
+ Administer end-to-end payroll processing, adhering to Sarbanes compliance.
+ Audit payroll outcomes to ensure compliance with tax filings, garnishments, and wage reporting.
+ Oversee year-end close procedures, validate YTD reporting, and assist in W-2 form issuance.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience in high-volume payroll processing (over 2,000 headcount).
+ Proficiency in payroll review and reconciliations for Salaried Exempt and Hourly Non-Exempt employees.
+ Multistate payroll experience, including Oregon and California.
+ Expertise in payroll audit, tax filings, and associated processes.
+ Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Vantage or Payforce, and UKG Dimension or ADP E-time.
+ Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs), Workday, and process documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred experience with Workday and process documentation.
+ Previous management or payroll management experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment with flexibility for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. The working hours start at either 8am or 9am PST. The office setting is collaborative, emphasizing teamwork and effective communication. You will engage with both internal and external partners to implement solutions and ensure compliance with payroll standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $42.00/hr.
