    Activities Coordinator

     

    Pay Rate: $20.50

     

    The activities coordinator will plan and coordinate programs and activities that are varied, reflect the interest, values and beliefs of the residents and provide life enriching opportunities for residents and the community.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    + Meet with residents to determine past and current interests and hobbies.

    + Assist in the orientation of new residents.

    + Shop for residents as needed.

    + Plan and provide physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual/educational, creative, entertainment, religious, service/volunteering programs and special requests of the residents.

    + Include residents to help plan program activities.

    + Order and maintain supplies necessary for programs.

    + Arrange regularly scheduled outings. Assist with transporting residents safely, comfortably and in a timely fashion.

    + Keep updated log on all coach miles and maintenance.

    + Prepare, post, and communicate monthly calendar of events.

    + Communicate programs and schedule to residents.

    + Maintain bulletin boards monthly with various pictures of activities, health information, and trivia.

    + Meet with recreation directors every other month to plan events.

    + Recruit volunteers for specific functions.

    + Train, orient and supervise all volunteers.

    + Maintain list of all volunteers.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Associate degree in recreational therapy or similar degree preferred.

    + Evidence of creativity.

    + Demonstrated organizational skills.

    + Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive van to transport residents. Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.

    + Possess computer skills (Microsoft word, office and publisher).

    + This position may/will be required to provide direct care or have access to resident property or belongings.

    + Experience in a recreational setting. Experience in planning and providing activities for older adults preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Performing duties of this job requires occasional walking and standing. Job also requires escorting and assisting residents on outings. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance and the ability to sit, talk, and hear is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The majority of essential job duties are performed indoors, in a normal office environment. Employee may be exposed to indoor temperature fluctuations and will be exposed to various outdoor elements when going on outings.

     

    SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:The work is performed within established guidelines, and requires periodic supervision. The employee exercises some initiative and independent judgment to effectively perform the essential job duties of this position.

     

    RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS:The employee has no direct responsibility for others.

     

    SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:Shall be fully acquainted with all safety policies and procedures of the River Edge Manor. Takes an active role in all fire drills during the shift and/or emergencies for internal and external disasters as monitored by supervisor and incident manager.comply with facility in-service requirements. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, participants, family and staff, that may be encountered, either formally or informally, during the normal course of business.This includes medical and treatment records, financial and human resources information.
