Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to The Child and Youth Program Flight. In this position you may work across multiple facilities. Limited Term Position - 15 AUG 2026 Responsibilities Manages and oversees curriculum implementation and program quality for Child and Youth Programs, including family childcare homes. Ensures alignment with DoD/AF regulations, national accreditation standards, and the developmental needs of children and youth. Mentors and coaches' providers in developing age-appropriate learning environments, classroom management, and positive social interactions, and promote family engagement across all programs. The Training and Curriculum for Family Child Care Program, ensuring compliance with Air Force, DoD, and applicable state/federal regulations. Responsibilities include recruiting and supporting FCC providers, conducting orientations, and disseminating regulatory information to providers, substitutes, and families. Ensures implementation of policies, monitors program operations, and promotes quality care within FCC homes. Conducts routine and unannounced home inspections to verify safety, health, and developmental standards, including those required by the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Monitors meals and documents of any deficiencies, initiating corrective actions and follow-up visits. Serves as a mandated reporter and liaison with agencies such as Family Advocacy on matters involving child abuse or neglect. Manages background checks, maintaining provider files, preparing reports, and coordinating FCC Panel documentation. Oversee resource management, including a lending program to reduce provider costs, and tracks supplies and equipment needed to support quality care. The marketing program responds to inquiries, promotes program benefits, and represents the program at meetings. Trains providers on key topics such as child development, health and safety, business practices, and child nutrition, offering tailored onsite coaching when needed. Collaborate with Training and Curriculum Specialists to develop an annual training plan and maintain a parent resource library. Engages families by keeping them informed about policy updates, addressing special needs, and providing childcare referral support. Administers a variety of Air Force Expanded Child Care Programs (e.g., Missile Care, Deployment Care, Respite Care), validate eligibility, schedules care, processes timesheets, and ensures timely reporting. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: (1)A 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or Child/Youth Development or a related field such as Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Consumer Science (Early Childhood emphasis) AND 3 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth. OR (2)A combination of education (at least 24 semester hours) and experience, or additional course work, that that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above AND 3 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth. (3) Knowledge of early childhood or youth education principles, concepts, and techniques to develop, interpret, monitor, and evaluate the execution of curriculum and age-appropriate activities. (4) Knowledge of adult learning techniques and strategies and experience training adult learners. (5) Ability to support DoD certification, accreditation, and staff credentialing (Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate of Arts (AA) Degree) by ensuring that required training is administered and successfully accomplished to meet statutory and program requirements. Must have the ability to supervise and provide guidance and leadership to employees and providers. Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations including evacuations, child illness, and physical and emotional disorders. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
