    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

    As a Volunteer Programs Supervisor, you will supervise staff and volunteers to achieve operational objectives and advance volunteer programs and services. Responsible for developing and implementing effective, cost-efficient methods to attract, onboard, train, schedule, engage and/or retain sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet operational needs. Supervise training, engagement, recognition and scheduling activities and assist with implementation of programs and systems. Serve as a liaison to internal partners and external organizations. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

     

    Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations. **This role is not eligible for relocation assistance!**

    WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

    + Responsible for the supervision of staff and volunteers including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and performance management. Lead daily operations of the department and enhance operational success.

    + Identify, modify and implement creative strategies to recruit and/or engage sufficient volunteers to meet operational needs, support organizational changes, achieve objectives, comply with organizational directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and other regulatory requirements.

    + Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department’s budget, goals and objectives.

    + Consult with internal partners to develop and maintain volunteer recruitment and/or engagement plans and needs assessments. Ensure alignment of volunteer needs and national goals.

    + Prepare internal partners to work with, monitor, and evaluate volunteer performance.

    + Coordinate and implement training and/or communications efforts as necessary.

    + May lead programs and events related to volunteer services.

     

    Scope: Direct daily operations of work unit.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

    + **Education:** Bachelor's degree required.

    + **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of related experience; 5 years is preferred.

    + **Management Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience. Preferably, candidates will have 3 years of experience managing paid staff.

    + **Skills & Abilities:** Ability to work on a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Good organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively. Knowledge and ability to use a computer. High level of professionalism, discretion and ability to handle confidential matters. Leadership skills with ability to train, coach, collaborate and delegate. Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs preferred.

    + **Travel:** Ability to travel to field offices and events.

    * Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

    _PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS_

    _The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time._
