Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Corporate Shared Services Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Planning & Construction Manager.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the planning and delivery of construction projects across the North American portfolio in accordance with industry and company safety standards.
Reporting to the Workplace Strategy, Planning & Construction Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the People & Property Services Department's objective to manage up to $100M in construction projects annually at primarily non-manufacturing locations.
What you’ll be doing
+ Provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of senior and junior construction engineers/architects performing construction project planning and delivery across multiple sites with various levels of complexity, budgets, and internal customers.
+ Optimize resources to execute department strategy among supported sites and efficiently manage capacity/capability of direct reports.
+ Develop criteria (architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil/structural, etc.) for design of buildings, childcare centers, fire houses, cafes, logistics yards and warehouses. Create related standard operating procedures that support North American operations.
+ Create KPIs and track related performance metrics for construction project implementation. Analyze results to identify gaps and create potential countermeasures that can be adopted across multiple regions.
+ Manage the overall budgetary process for assigned construction projects. Develop presentations in a standard tool (i.e., Power BI) to provide regular financial updates that include cost containment measures. Prepare master plan roadmaps that include national and regional strategies for project implementation.
+ Manage direct relationships with multiple levels of management and divisions across all regions through regular communications/ meetings and partner with procurement, accounting, finance and legal for negotiating contracts and issuing purchase orders to suppliers for all commodities.
What you bring
+ Experience in construction planning and management to oversee projects that are designed and built to quality, cost, schedule, and safety KPIs.
+ Leadership experience managing a group of team members and contractors that delivers projects of varied sizes and types concurrently, while being successful in developing and fostering close relationships with multiple levels of management (including executives) and business units across regions.
+ Extensive experience of financial budgeting and forecasting principles.
+ Ability to manage risk with proactive recognition of potential issues and identification of remediation opportunities.
+ Coaching skills to drive process improvements and problem-solving skills to resolve issues with systemic and sustainable countermeasures.
+ Degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
Added bonus if you have
+ Management level experience with diverse corporate portfolio oversight.
+ Prior management work experience with a general contractor or working at an architectural firm or engineering firm leading large construction projects.
+ Advanced project experience in childcare centers, dining facilities, light industrial, warehouse operations, security installations and/or office interior renovations.
+ Professional Engineering License, Architecture License or Project Management Professional Certification.
+ Strong background in budget development and tracking and PM software tool expertise.
