    Job Title: Land Survey Crew Chief

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced Surveyor or Party Chief to lead a surveying crew on projects throughout the Southeastern region. The role focuses on ensuring the quality, accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, safety, meeting schedules, and budgets while providing responsive service to clients.

    Responsibilities

    + Locate, review, and research job locations to identify landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes affecting surveys.

    + Supervise the survey crew, evaluating priorities and coordinating work efforts.

    + Ensure work quality and derive necessary field calculations from completed tasks.

    + Maintain survey instruments and equipment.

    + Verify that angles, distances, and other collected information are accurate and compliant with regulations and standards.

    + Coordinate survey findings with engineering personnel, clients, and project stakeholders.

    + Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and records for data acquisition.

    + Establish or reestablish survey control methods and procedures.

    + Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches describing work performed.

    + Complete daily logs and expense reports.

    + Ensure crew compliance with safety procedures and complete necessary safety forms.

    + Consult with computer operators and review final production of survey work.

    + Demonstrate familiarity with commonly used surveying terms and care of survey tools and field equipment.

    + Operate survey equipment such as the Total Station/Data Collector, Level, and various GPS methods.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum 5-6 years progressive experience in survey field operations, including at least 2 years as a survey crew chief.

    + Proficiency in boundary survey software and topographic surveys.

    + Ability to survey independently.

    + Strong technical skills.

    + Behavioral traits of being process-oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, and problem-solving.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience leading a crew as a crew chief.

    + Familiarity with the use and care of survey tools and field equipment.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in the Raleigh or Wilmington office, with the majority of time spent outdoors conducting surveys. There is approximately 50% travel involved, requiring willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
