    Job Title: Engineering Technician

    Job Description

    The Engineering Technician will assemble and test prototype electric power steering systems. This includes handling internal test parts and customer-delivered prototypes for vehicle and bench testing. The role also involves creating tooling and harnesses, and providing continuous improvement feedback for the build process.

    Responsibilities

    + Assemble and test pre-production EPS materials.

    + Complete all relevant build and inspection data for record-keeping.

    + Provide computer and instrument-generated information and reports to the product engineering team.

    + Maintain and enhance all prototype build processes and work instructions.

    + Provide technical support for specific operations.

    + Design and create wire harnesses and tooling for product builds and testing.

    + Promote collaboration between US, Japanese, and European prototype build departments.

    + Ensure the integrity of prototype builds with properly generated control plans, process flow charts, final inspection methods, and end-of-line performance test results.

    Essential Skills

    + Mechanically inclined.

    + Proficiency in LabVIEW.

    + Ability to read 2D drawings and assembly drawings.

    + Experience with prototype assembly.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Understanding of automotive steering systems.

    + Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 2-year technical degree within an engineering discipline.

    + 1+ years of experience as an engineering technician within the automotive industry (Tier 1 preferred).

    + Proficiency in reading schematics, 2D component drawings, and assembly drawings.

    + Hands-on mechanical experience in automotive component building and testing, preferably in steering systems (willing to train on commodity experience).

    + GD&T experience/knowledge related to automotive.

    + Experience in electronic steering systems testing and assembly.

    + Experience with prototype parts related to automotive.

    Work Environment

    This onsite position is based in Plymouth, MI, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with flexibility on start times and the option to make up time if needed. The role is set in a clean, organized prototype test lab, working alongside a team consisting of one other senior technician, four engineers, three coordinators, one resident, and the prototype manager.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
