Job Title: Environmental SpecialistJob Description

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining successful environmental and safety initiatives at our facilities. This key position requires creative problem-solving, strong communication skills, and effective collaboration within the organization. The EH&S Specialist will act as a team player and change agent, leading by example and promoting safety as the highest priority in our culture and value system.

Responsibilities

+ Promote safety as the number one priority for all employees.

+ Provide daily support and guidance on safe work practices and proper PPE usage.

+ Ensure EH&S compliance audits are completed accurately and on time.

+ Assist with safety committee initiatives and goals, driving participation and follow-up.

+ Perform incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis, and determine corrective actions, ensuring timely completion of recommended measures.

+ Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring for heat stress, air quality, confined space atmospheric testing, and ergonomic evaluations.

+ Drive continuous improvement and ergonomics initiatives.

+ Prepare and maintain accurate site EH&S records and documentation, including tracking and reporting safety statistics.

+ Perform safety and environmental training according to established safety programs and policies.

+ Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and countermeasures.

+ Assist with machine reviews for lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and ergonomics.

+ Conduct visible opacity evaluations via EPA methods.

+ Provide assistance and support to maintain compliance with OSHA, MassDEP, and EPA regulations.

+ Manage specialized programs to ensure facility compliance with hazard communication, hazardous waste management, stormwater management, and other environmental regulations.

+ Assist with blood-borne pathogen training, audiometric testing, fall protection, confined space, respiratory protection, and ergonomic programs.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

+ 2-5 years of experience in an EH&S role.

+ Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MassDEP, RCRA, Life Safety, EH&S, and Industrial Hygiene assessment methods.

+ Understanding of machine safeguarding, electrical safety, chemical safety, and hazard communications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

+ HAZWOPER Certification.

Work Environment

The Environmental Health and Safety team consists of four employees, including a Director, a Safety Specialist, a Health Specialist, and this Environmental Specialist role. The team collaborates effectively, providing mutual support as needed. The larger organization is welcoming to EH&S policies, embracing trainings and orientations with enthusiasm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

• The company offers a competitive salary range of $62,000 to $80,000 per year, with potential for higher hourly rates for exceptional candidates. They also provide a comprehensive benefits package, training opportunities, and a positive, safety-focused work culture.

This is a fully onsite position in Agawam,MA.
