    Purpose

     

    Contributes to the overall success of Core Data Engineer and Central service, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

    Accountabilities

    + Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

    + Contribute to the assessment of sizing and complexity of User Stories and to the solutioning of those Stories for Credit Card and tokenization applications

    + Develop User Stories to a high level of quality, including identifying error scenarios, the development of automated tests, and the review of code coverage and static code analysis reports.

    + Ensure deliverables meet architectural and coding expectations, including leveraging modern language features and functional programming coding styles.

    + Contribute to reviews of pull requests created by peers.

    + Proactively monitor application environments with available tools, create awareness in the larger team of any observed issues, and contribute to resolving those issues.

    + Proactively identify opportunities to drive modernization of technology and automation of processes, including offering ideas of solutions to these opportunities.

    + Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporate into in day-to-day activities and decisions.

    + Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

    Education / Experience / Other Information

    + English communication skills, both oral and written

    + 5+ years’ experience in a Java Developer role;

    + 2+ years’ experience with Java8 or higher

    + 3+ years’ experience with Java SpringBoot / Spring Cloud / JPA

    + 2+years’ experience with Tokenization implementations and Credit Card Projects

    + Familiarity with Postman, REST, SOAP, SQL Server and DB2 is an asset

    + Familiarity with cloud platform technologies is an asset

    + Experience in SCRUM Agile teams is an asset

    + Experience working on multiple initiatives concurrently

    + Experience working remotely in distributed project engagements

    + Bilingual English/Spanish language skills (B2 English level)

     

    Working Conditions

     

    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
