    Job Title: Structural Welder

    Job Description

    A large steel fabricator of vessels and heat exchangers is seeking a skilled vessel welder to join their team. The role involves laying out and fitting up fabricated parts to the vessel shell based on blueprints and drawings. Once the vessel is laid out, the welder will perform welding using MIG and Flux Core techniques on carbon steel ranging from 1/4" to 1" thick. Additionally, the welder may be required to weld tube ends for heat exchangers using TIG welding on small diameter tubing, primarily thin gauge stainless steel. The ability to pass welding inspections with minimal oversight is essential.

    Responsibilities

    + Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and schematics.

    + Layout and fit up fabricated parts to vessel shells.

    + Perform MIG and Flux Core welding on thicker carbon steel materials.

    + Weld tube ends for heat exchangers using TIG welding on small diameter tubing.

    + Execute saddle fits and miter bends both uphill and downhill.

    + Pass welding inspections with minimal oversight.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years of fabrication experience.

    + 5+ years of Structural welding experience, excluding pure structural welding.

    + Proficiency in MIG and Flux Core welding on thicker materials.

    + Ability to weld a saddle both uphill and downhill.

    + 3+ years of experience in tube welding on small diameter thin gauge tubing.

    + Expertise in TIG welding.

    + Familiarity with 6G welding.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in vessel fitting or pipe fitting.

    + Proficiency in sub arc welding.

    + Ability to use industrial hand tools for layout and fitting up materials.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a Medium/ Large, open-air Manufacturing/ Fabrication shop, focusing on safety while working with Aerospace materials. The team environment includes welders, fitters, and fabrication helpers. Safety attire includes steel-toe boots, jeans, work shirts, safety glasses, and hard hats. The day shift is Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with potential Saturday hours from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. The night shift operates Monday to Friday from 5:30 pm to 5:30 am, with optional Saturday hours from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Expect approximately 49 hours per week on the day shift and up to 60 hours per week on the night shift, with additional hours as work picks up.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
