About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate LPN t o provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As a LPN, you will i mplements selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc. under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
In this role, you will also:
+ Observe patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and report significant changes.
+ Obtain specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
+ Take vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
+ Administer medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
+ Transcribe physicians' orders and records medication and patient's condition on patient's charts and other records.
+ Receive and give changes of shift reports.
+ Request stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned.
+ Administer CPR in emergency situations.
+ Admit, transfer, and discharge patients.
+ Gather information about patient's past and current physical and mental status.
+ May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and documents procedure.
+ Apply dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and documents procedure.
+ Assist physicians with routine examinations and treatments.
+ Bathe, feed, and make patients comfortable.
+ Perform individual and group health teaching as assigned.

This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Appointment Type: Probational or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a LPN 1, 2, or 3
Work Schedule: Day Shift (6:45a-7:15p) Night Shift (6:45p-7:15a)
Compensation: The Special Entrance Rate for this position is as follows, plus premium pay, and shift differentials (SEE BELOW):
Practical Nurse - Licensed, 1 is $19.48
Practical Nurse - Licensed, 2 is $20.84
Practical Nurse - Licensed, 3 is $22.30
PREMIUM PAY (per HOUR physically worked):
$7.00 work incentive pay upon hire.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (per HOUR physically worked):
Shift Diff 2nd Shift - $1.50
Shift Diff 3rd Shift - $3.00
Weekend/Holiday Shift Diff - $1.50
Weekend/Holiday Shift Diff 2nd Shift - $3.00
Weekend/Holiday Shift Diff 3rd Shift - $3.00
